The Helmut Newton SUMO, originally published in 1999, was a landmark publication both in terms of conceptual extravagance and technical specifications. This edition, revised by June Newton, remains a spectacular tribute to the 20th century's most influential, intriguing and controversial photographer.
Helmut Newton rose to prominence as a fashion photographer in 1957 having won a 12-month contract with British Vogue. Newton went on to settle in Paris in 1961 and established his now recognisable style marked by erotic stylised scenes, often with fetishistic subtexts. This edition presents hundreds of exquisite images, from his fashion shoots and nudes to his provocative mis-en-scènes and celebrity portraits.
